Babar Azam Suffers Hand Injury During Pakistan Warm-Up Match in England

BECKENHAM, ENGLAND — WEB DESK: Pakistan batter Babar Azam suffered a hand injury after being struck while batting during a warm-up match in England, prompting him to leave the field for medical assessment.

The incident occurred on the second day of Pakistan’s warm-up fixture against the Pakistan Cricket Club Select XI in Beckenham.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources cited in local media reports, initial assessments indicated that Babar’s injury was not serious and there was no immediate cause for concern.

Babar advised to rest as precaution

Babar was examined by the team’s medical staff after being hit on the hand while batting. Following the assessment, the team management advised him to rest as a precaution to avoid aggravating the injury.

The decision to take him off the field was therefore described as precautionary rather than an indication of a major fitness problem.

PCB sources said Babar could return to bat during the warm-up fixture if required, suggesting the initial medical assessment was encouraging.

However, Pakistan’s team management is continuing to monitor his condition and will assess his fitness before making decisions regarding his participation in upcoming matches.

Fitness closely monitored

Babar remains one of Pakistan’s most important batters, making any injury concern involving him particularly significant ahead of competitive fixtures.

His departure from the field initially raised concerns among supporters, but reports from PCB sources that the injury was minor offered some reassurance.

No serious damage had been reported following the initial examination, although the medical team is expected to continue evaluating the affected hand.

The warm-up fixture provides Pakistan’s players with an opportunity to adjust to English conditions and gain match practice before their forthcoming assignments.

For Babar, the immediate priority will be ensuring that the discomfort in his hand subsides without developing into an injury that could affect his availability.

Further clarity on his fitness is expected after continued assessment by Pakistan’s medical and team management staff.
