wo Women Killed, Father and Daughter Injured in Balochistan Shooting
QILA ABDULLAH, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Two women were killed and a father and daughter were critically injured after armed men opened fire on a vehicle carrying a family from Karachi in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, police said on Saturday.
The shooting occurred in the Segi area of Qila Abdullah district as the family’s vehicle was passing through the locality, according to an Express News report citing police officials.
Two women travelling in the vehicle died at the scene, while a man and his daughter sustained injuries.
The injured were provided initial medical treatment before being transferred in critical condition to the Trauma Centre in Quetta for further care. The bodies of the two women were moved to Abdul Rahmanzai Hospital for medico-legal procedures.
Family had travelled from Karachi
Police said the family was from Karachi and had arrived in Gulistan tehsil two days earlier for business-related purposes.
Investigators are working to establish the circumstances that led to the shooting and identify those responsible.
According to the preliminary investigation cited by police, the vehicle had allegedly been signalled to stop but continued travelling. Gunfire was then allegedly opened by members of a tribal group.
Authorities have not yet announced any arrests, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Police launch investigation
Police described Segi as a sensitive area because of tribal disputes and longstanding rivalries, saying civilian movement in parts of the locality can also be restricted.
Investigators have launched further inquiries to establish the motive behind the shooting and apprehend those involved.
Authorities had not publicly identified the deceased women or the injured father and daughter in the initial report.
The case remains under investigation, and further details are expected as police gather evidence and determine the sequence of events surrounding the attack.
