Netanyahu postpones planned visit to US after Lindsey Graham’s funeral delayed

Date:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his planned visit to the United States after the memorial ceremony for late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham was delayed, according to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.

Jerusalem, Israel – Web Desk: Israeli media reported that Netanyahu had been scheduled to depart for the United States on Saturday and remain there until Tuesday. The primary purpose of the visit was to attend the memorial service honoring Graham, a longtime supporter of Israel and a prominent figure in the U.S. Senate.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the postponement of the memorial ceremony led to the cancellation of Netanyahu’s trip. No new date for the visit has been announced.

Lindsey Graham, who died last week following a brief illness, was widely regarded as one of Israel’s strongest allies in Washington and a vocal critic of Iran. In a statement, Netanyahu expressed deep sorrow over Graham’s death, describing him as a close friend who played a significant role in strengthening U.S.-Israel relations and supporting Israel’s security.

Political analysts say the postponement could affect the schedule of high-level meetings between Israeli and U.S. officials, although the Israeli government has not announced revised travel plans.
