Government may introduce daily fuel prices set by OGRA each night.

Date:

The Pakistani government is considering introducing a daily fuel pricing mechanism under which the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) would determine petroleum product prices every night.

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: According to a senior official from the Petroleum Division, the proposed system would significantly reduce the government’s direct role in setting fuel prices. Instead, OGRA would become solely responsible for determining the prices of Motor Spirit (MS/Petrol), High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Light Diesel Oil (LDO), and Kerosene Oil (KO) on a daily basis.

Under the proposal, revised prices would be announced each night and would take effect from 12:00 a.m., allowing domestic fuel prices to respond more quickly to changes in international oil markets and exchange rate fluctuations.

The proposal is currently under consideration, and no final decision has been announced by the government.
