Paris, France – Web Desk: President Donald Trump has confirmed that the Iran agreement has entered its second phase, with the United States now seeking to secure Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile to ensure Tehran never obtains nuclear weapons.
Speaking to the media following a meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Paris, Trump expressed satisfaction with Qatar’s handling of regional affairs and described the Iran deal as fair from his perspective.
“The Iran deal has entered its second phase. We want to secure Iran’s enriched uranium,” Trump said. “The most important thing for me is that Iran never has nuclear weapons, and under this agreement, Iran will never possess nuclear weapons. If Iran tries to acquire nuclear weapons, we will destroy Iran.”
He further stated, “I believe Iran has received a fair deal. However, we are not going to make any investments there.”
Regarding regional conflicts, Trump characterized the Lebanon war as a relatively minor conflict. He revealed that he had advised Israel to delegate responsibility for dealing with Hezbollah to Syria.
“I suggested to Israel that dealing with Hezbollah should be Syria’s responsibility. I told Israel that I did not like the attack on Beirut. If Israel cannot do this without killing other people, then Syria should do it,” Trump stated.
The President also commented on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, urging Russia to reach an agreement with Ukraine. He confirmed that he would meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later in the day.
