TEHRAN – Web Desk: Iran has strongly denied any role in the incident involving a US Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, with officials rejecting allegations of intentional action, according to statements from Iranian authorities.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister stated in an interview that Tehran had nothing to do with targeting the US Apache helicopter, nor was any such action intentionally carried out by Iran. He noted that due to extraordinary tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, unintentional incidents can sometimes occur, and it would not be correct to immediately label them as attacks.
Meanwhile, US officials have not reached a final conclusion on the nature of the incident. According to a US official, preliminary reports suggest the helicopter may have collided with an Iranian drone, but no evidence has yet emerged to prove the act was intentional, with investigations ongoing.
Iranian military sources claimed that no aerial operation was conducted in or around the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had shot down a US Apache helicopter patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz, stating that while both pilots survived, Washington would not ignore the incident and would respond.
