WASHINGTON – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has informed his close advisors that the United States currently has no intention of renewing war against Iran and prefers to resolve tensions through diplomatic means, according to a US media report.
Trump told advisors that as long as Iran does not directly target American troops or US interests, no new military action against Iran is likely. The administration is seeking to resolve issues through diplomatic efforts rather than expanding ongoing conflicts in the region, the report said. Washington wants to avoid widening the war in the Middle East and is considering various diplomatic avenues to reduce tensions.
Meanwhile, progress has been made on a US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Following the fourth trilateral talks in Washington, a joint statement was issued in which both parties agreed to a ceasefire. The US State Department confirmed that Israel and Lebanon have not only agreed to a ceasefire but also committed to continuing negotiations in the future.
According to the statement, representatives of both countries will return to the negotiating table on June 22 to discuss border security, de-escalation, and other key issues. Analysts suggest that if the US avoids direct confrontation with Iran and Israel-Lebanon talks succeed, prospects for reduced regional tensions could increase, though the situation remains uncertain.
