Beijing, China – Web Desk: China has strongly criticized recent U.S. sanctions targeting companies linked to Iran, calling the measures “illegal” and unilateral, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The United States recently imposed sanctions on three China-based companies, alleging that they were providing support for Iranian military-related activities.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said during a press briefing that Beijing requires its companies to operate in compliance with laws and regulations and will firmly protect their legitimate rights and interests.
He further criticized Washington’s approach, saying the priority should be maintaining a ceasefire and preventing renewed conflict in the region, rather than using the situation to justify accusations and political pressure against other countries.
China reiterated its opposition to unilateral sanctions and stressed that international disputes should be resolved through diplomacy and negotiations.
Analysts say rising tensions between Iran, the United States, and China could have wider implications for global energy markets, trade flows, and security in strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.
China remains one of the largest importers of Iranian oil, while Washington continues to expand sanctions in an effort to pressure Tehran.
