Iran rejects Trump ceasefire stance, tensions escalate

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s state media has issued a strong response after former U.S. President Donald Trump rejected Tehran’s latest ceasefire-related proposals, describing Washington’s stance as unacceptable and politically driven.

According to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, reported by international media, the Iranian response emphasized national sovereignty and rejected any agreement that compromises Iran’s core interests or independence.

The report said Iran’s latest diplomatic proposals included demands for compensation for wartime damages, alongside calls for the lifting of all U.S. sanctions and the release of frozen Iranian assets abroad.

Iran also reiterated its position on the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that maritime security and regional navigation routes fall under Iran’s strategic sovereignty and cannot be dictated externally.

IRIB further stated that Iran’s response highlighted what it called “fundamental rights of the Iranian nation,” insisting that any future agreement must respect its political and economic independence.

Former President Donald Trump had earlier described Iran’s proposals as “unacceptable,” intensifying already strained relations between Tehran and Washington.

Analysts warn that ongoing disputes over sanctions, Iran’s nuclear program, and control over key shipping routes continue to block progress toward any potential diplomatic breakthrough.
