Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iran is expected to send its official response to US ceasefire and diplomatic proposals to Washington today through Pakistani mediation channels, amid ongoing regional tensions and backchannel diplomacy.
According to reports from Al Jazeera and Iranian sources, Tehran is still reviewing American proposals and has not set a formal deadline for its response. However, an Iranian parliament member and former foreign minister indicated that the reply could be delivered to the United States via Pakistan as early as today.
Iranian officials have clarified that current discussions are focused solely on ending hostilities across all fronts, rather than nuclear negotiations at this stage.
Tehran has reportedly demanded that any ceasefire arrangement be guaranteed directly by the United Nations Security Council, along with the lifting of US sanctions and the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has also signaled that nuclear-related negotiations could be considered only in a second phase if these conditions are met.
In a parallel development, Iran has tightened its maritime control in the Strait of Hormuz, reportedly establishing a new body called the “Persian Gulf Street Authority” to oversee shipping movements in the strategic waterway.
Officials in Tehran said that all vessels passing through the strait must now coordinate with Iranian authorities, reflecting heightened security measures amid escalating geopolitical tensions.
Analysts say the move comes amid increased US naval activity and rising pressure over global energy supply routes, as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil transit corridors.
Pakistan is increasingly being viewed as a key diplomatic facilitator in indirect communications between Iran and the United States during the ongoing crisis.
