Trump Pauses ‘Project Freedom’ Amid Iran Deal Progress

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a temporary suspension of “Project Freedom” in the Strait of Hormuz, citing diplomatic progress toward a potential agreement with Iran.

In a statement posted on the Truth Social platform, Trump said the decision was made following requests from multiple countries, including Pakistan, and after what he described as successful recent military operations against Iran.

He stated that “significant progress” has been achieved in talks with Iranian representatives toward a comprehensive and final agreement, raising hopes of easing tensions in the region.

Despite the suspension, Trump clarified that the broader maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would remain in place. However, operations related to ensuring the safe passage of commercial vessels under Project Freedom have been paused temporarily to assess whether negotiations can lead to a breakthrough.

Defense analysts suggest the move could mark a major step toward de-escalation in the Gulf, with potential implications for global oil markets and shipping routes. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, handling a significant share of global oil transit.

Diplomatic sources say the development may signal a possible end to the current deadlock between Washington and Tehran, though uncertainty remains and the coming days are expected to be crucial.
