Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has said that Pakistan has no shortage of cricketing talent, but stressed the need for proper identification and guidance to ensure players are used in the right formats.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the PSL 11 final, Babar emphasized that selecting players in unsuitable formats could negatively impact team performance. He said that a T20 specialist, for example, should not be forced into Test cricket, as it may harm both the player and the team.
The Pakistan captain said he has not been performing up to expectations recently but remains focused on improving his game. He added that he prefers to respond to criticism through performance on the field rather than engaging in public debate.
Babar further stated that every captain aims to win trophies for their team and praised his squad’s overall performance throughout the tournament, highlighting contributions across batting, bowling, and fielding departments.
He also appreciated Sri Lankan all-rounder Kusal Mendis for his experience and contribution to the team, calling his presence valuable for Peshawar Zalmi.
Reflecting on the team’s journey, Babar said each match comes with pressure, but finals bring even greater intensity, requiring strong mental preparation from players.
