Pakistan Power Supply Improves, Loadshedding Reduced

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has seen an improvement in electricity supply during peak hours as increased power generation helps reduce loadshedding, now largely limited to high-loss areas.

According to the Power Division Pakistan, higher water releases from the country’s dams have boosted electricity generation to 5,125 megawatts during peak demand periods.

Officials said improved grid stability enabled the transmission of an additional 400 megawatts of electricity from southern regions to central parts of the country, supporting uninterrupted supply during critical hours.

Distribution companies managed to maintain relatively stable power supply despite increased demand, implementing limited load management of one to two hours overnight.

Authorities clarified that “economic load management” will continue in areas with higher line losses, in line with existing policy. However, this measure is separate from peak-time load management and does not affect overall supply improvements.

The Power Division spokesperson added that the availability of liquefied natural gas (LNG) could further ease the situation, potentially eliminating peak-time loadshedding altogether.

Currently, a shortage of LNG has kept power plants with a capacity of around 5,500 megawatts offline, limiting the country’s full generation potential.

Energy experts note that sustained fuel supply and efficient distribution will be key to maintaining improved electricity availability across Pakistan.
