Pakistan Expects Fuel Price Cut After Hormuz Reopens

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has said that petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to decrease soon following improved regional developments, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and ceasefire progress in Lebanon.

In a statement on social media platform X, the minister said Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, have contributed to regional peace developments, positioning the country as a supporter of global stability.

He added that the situation in Lebanon has stabilised and commercial shipping has resumed through the Strait of Hormuz, which is expected to ease pressure on global oil supply chains.

Leghari stated that these developments could lead to a reduction in fuel prices in Pakistan in the coming period, while improved availability of LNG is also expected to enhance electricity supply and reduce energy shortages.

He further noted that Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagements across the region, including visits and negotiations involving senior officials, are aimed at strengthening economic stability and energy security.

Officials say the combined impact of easing geopolitical tensions and improved energy flows could provide relief in domestic fuel and electricity markets, although final pricing decisions will depend on global market trends.
