Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has warned that it could disrupt trade in key regional waterways, including the Red Sea, if the United States continues its reported naval blockade of Iranian ports.
According to Iranian media, General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, said the ongoing blockade of Iran’s maritime routes constitutes a clear violation of ceasefire understandings.
He warned that if the blockade persists, Iran may take retaliatory measures that could halt commercial activity not only in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, but also extend restrictions to the Red Sea, a critical artery for global trade.
Iranian officials emphasized that Tehran would take “strong measures” to defend its national sovereignty and economic interests if access to its ports continues to be restricted.
