Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has marked a major milestone in regional trade connectivity by activating the Gabd Border Terminal, aimed at enhancing trade links with Iran and Central Asian states.
The National Logistics Corporation confirmed that the terminal has been made operational under the TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers) system, facilitating faster and more efficient cross-border cargo movement.
Officials said the new route via Iran provides a shorter, safer, and more modern corridor to Central Asia, significantly reducing reliance on transit through Afghanistan.
In a key development, meat consignments dispatched from Karachi to Tashkent were processed through expedited clearance and transported onward to Uzbekistan via Iran.
The NLC noted that multiple trade corridors connecting China, Iran, and Central Asian countries are now operational, strengthening regional logistics integration.
Constructed in March 2024 near Gwadar, the Gabd-Rimdan corridor is expected to emerge as a key trade gateway, supporting Pakistan’s ambition to become a regional connectivity hub.
Economic analysts say the new route will reduce transportation distance, lower logistics costs, and boost exports to Central Asia, improving overall trade efficiency and regional economic integration.
