Iran Delegation to Arrive in Islamabad Despite Violations

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam has confirmed that an Iranian delegation will arrive in Islamabad on Thursday night for high-level talks, despite concerns over repeated ceasefire violations.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the envoy said doubts had emerged in Iran regarding the negotiation process due to what he described as repeated violations of the ceasefire by Israel, which he accused of attempting to undermine diplomatic efforts.

However, he added that, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Iranian delegation would proceed with the visit and engage in “serious negotiations” based on a proposed 10-point agenda.

The ambassador did not disclose details regarding the composition of the delegation.

Earlier, the White House confirmed that US President Donald Trump had also decided to send a high-level team to Islamabad for the talks.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the US delegation is expected to include Vice President JD Vance, senior adviser Steve Witkoff, and presidential adviser Jared Kushner.

The upcoming talks in Islamabad are being closely watched globally, as they are seen as a key step toward consolidating the fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States and preventing further escalation in the Middle East.
