Iran Rejects US 48-Hour Ceasefire Offer, Demands Comprehensive Truce

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has rejected the United States’ proposal for a 48-hour ceasefire, insisting that any truce must be comprehensive and permanent, according to Iranian officials.

Citing semi-official news agency Fars, Tehran stated through an unnamed source that it would not accept a temporary halt in hostilities. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has emphasized that a ceasefire will only be agreed upon under Iran’s conditions and that temporary arrangements are not acceptable.

The move follows reports from the Wall Street Journal that Iran has informed intermediaries it is not prepared to meet US officials in Islamabad in the coming days.

Araqchi also highlighted that reparations for the damages caused by the ongoing conflict are among Iran’s key demands. He noted that some US conditions are excessive and described the trust level between Tehran and Washington as effectively zero.

Although Iran has yet to formally respond to the US’s 15-point proposal, the current developments suggest that immediate progress toward a ceasefire remains unlikely.

The situation underscores the deepening diplomatic impasse amid ongoing regional tensions.
