Dhaka, Bangladesh – Web Desk – Pakistan middle-order batsman Salman Ali Aga has responded to a controversial run-out incident during the second ODI against Bangladesh, saying he would have made a different decision if roles were reversed.
The incident occurred at Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Dhaka, when Bangladesh captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz ran out Salman Ali Aga at the non-striker’s end. The decision sparked immediate debate over sportsmanship, with former Pakistan cricketers Ramiz Raja and Hamid Hafez criticizing the action as contrary to the spirit of the game. Social media also witnessed widespread backlash against Miraz.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Aga said, “According to the law, the run-out was technically correct, but sportsmanship should have been prioritized. If I were in that situation, I might have acted differently. I thought the ball had already contacted the pad and bat, so I tried to return it to the bowler thinking it was dead.”
In the match, Pakistan batted first after losing the toss and scored 274 runs in 47.3 overs. Bangladesh, chasing a revised 243-run target in 32 overs due to rain, were bowled out for 114 runs in 23.3 overs, giving Pakistan a comprehensive 128-run victory under the DLS method.
The three-match ODI series is now tied 1-1, with the decider scheduled for Sunday.
