Web Desk | Washington, D.C., United States Donald Trump said he is not concerned about potential Iran-backed attacks on United States soil despite warnings from the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding possible drone threats.
According to a report by ABC News, the FBI recently alerted police departments in California that Iran could attempt retaliatory drone strikes targeting the US West Coast.
The warning comes nearly two weeks after the United States and Israel carried out military strikes on Iran, escalating tensions and triggering an ongoing conflict in the Gulf region.
When asked by reporters whether he was worried about retaliatory attacks inside the United States, Trump responded briefly:
“No, I’m not.”
According to the FBI alert, authorities received information suggesting that Iran had considered launching a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel positioned off the US coastline. The alert indicated that potential targets could be located in the state of California.
However, officials clarified that there is currently no confirmed information regarding the timing, method, specific targets, or perpetrators of any such attack.
Spokespersons for the FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department, and California state authorities did not immediately comment on the report.
Earlier threat assessments by the US Department of Homeland Security suggested that Iran and its allied groups could attempt targeted attacks in response to US military strikes, though analysts consider a large-scale physical attack on US territory unlikely.
