Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The US Embassy in Islamabad has extended the cancellation of all immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments through March 13, 2026, continuing a disruption that began earlier in the week.
In an update issued March 9, embassy officials confirmed that routine and emergency consular services for US citizens in Pakistan remain available. However, no visa interviews or processing will occur from March 9 to March 13 at the Islamabad embassy.
Affected applicants will be contacted via email with instructions on how to reschedule their appointments once services resume.
Consular operations at the US Consulates General in Karachi and Lahore continue to be temporarily suspended, with no visa or other non-emergency services available at those locations.
The cancellations come amid heightened security concerns linked to the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict in the Middle East, which has raised regional tensions and prompted precautionary measures at diplomatic missions across South Asia and the Gulf.
US citizens requiring urgent assistance are advised to contact the embassy directly, while visa applicants should monitor official US Embassy Pakistan channels and emails for updates on resumption of services.
