(Web Desk) – Security Council of Russia Deputy Chairman and former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has warned that attempts to pursue regime change in Iran could spark a third world war.
In an interview, Medvedev said that if former US President Donald Trump does not abandon what he described as a “reckless path” toward regime change in Iran, it could inevitably lead to a global conflict. He argued that any escalation could quickly spiral beyond control.
Medvedev claimed that despite military pressure, Iran would withstand attacks from the United States and Israel, and that external aggression had instead unified the Iranian nation. He further alleged that continued hostilities could accelerate Tehran’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
He also said that the conflict has increased risks for American and Israeli citizens, describing the confrontation as part of a broader struggle for global dominance by the United States and its allies.
Additionally, Medvedev criticised European leaders, warning that Washington understands the heavy cost of a potential nuclear confrontation with Russia. He cautioned that in the event of a nuclear conflict, the devastation could surpass historical precedents such as the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and heightened rhetoric among global powers over security, deterrence, and regional stability.
