Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran could soon develop missiles capable of reaching the United States, while reiterating that his administration prefers a diplomatic solution to tensions with Tehran.
Speaking during his first State of the Union address of his second presidential term, Trump said Washington was seeking a deal with Iran and emphasized diplomacy as his preferred approach to resolving the dispute.
The president also accused Iran’s government of killing tens of thousands of protesters and claimed his administration had intervened to prevent executions of demonstrators. He reiterated his belief in what he described as “peace through strength.”
Trump further repeated his claim that US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last year had completely destroyed Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program. He also referenced the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and said the United States wanted clear assurances that Tehran was not pursuing nuclear weapons, noting that such guarantees had not been provided.
