Pallekele, Sri Lanka – Web Desk: Australia secured a dominant nine-wicket victory over Oman in the 40th match of the ICC T20 World Cup, chasing down a modest target of 104 runs with ease.
Australia reached the target in just 9.4 overs, losing only one wicket. Captain Mitchell Marsh led the chase with an unbeaten 64 runs, while Travis Head scored 32 before being dismissed. Josh Inglis remained not out on 12.
Oman’s only wicket in the match was taken by Shakeel Ahmed.
Earlier, Oman were bowled out for 104 runs in the 17th over after being invited to bat first. Wasim Ali was the top scorer with 32 runs, followed by captain Jatinder Singh (17) and Hamad Mirza (16). Other contributors included Aamir Kaleem, Shafique Jan, and others who failed to reach double figures.
For Australia, Adam Zampa starred with four wickets, while Glenn Maxwell and Xavier Bartlett claimed two wickets each. Nathan Ellis and Marcus Stoinis also took one wicket apiece.
The win highlighted Australia’s strong form heading into the next stage of the tournament.
