Pakistan Becomes First Team to Play 6 Spinners in a T20 World Cup Innings

Colombo – Pakistan made history in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by becoming the first team to use six spinners in a single innings.

In a Group stage match against India, Pakistan’s bowling squad included Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, and Usman Tariq, all deployed to restrict India’s batting.

India batted first, posting 175 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Saif Ayub led Pakistan’s spin attack, taking three wickets, while Usman Tariq, Shaheen Afridi, and Salman Ali Agha claimed one wicket each. Additionally, one Indian batsman was run out during the innings.

Pakistan’s bold strategy highlighted their growing reliance on spin in T20 cricket and set a new benchmark in World Cup bowling tactics. The historic move emphasizes Pakistan’s innovative approach and depth in spin resources.
