HIV, TB, Hepatitis tests made compulsory at Karachi airport to curb disease spread
Karachi, Pakistan | Web Desk: The Sindh government has decided to enforce mandatory medical screening for all deported individuals arriving in the province, including tests for HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis, to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
According to the Sindh Health Department, rapid testing kits, X-ray facilities, and trained medical staff have been deployed at Jinnah International Airport Karachi. Officials revealed that 150 to 200 deportees arrive daily, raising serious public health concerns.
Health authorities warned that the absence of proper medical screening could significantly increase the risk of infectious disease transmission within local communities. The initiative aims to strengthen public health safety, disease surveillance, and early detection.
