Over 5 lakh kites sold as Peshawar craftsmen fuel Lahore’s vibrant Basant celebrations.
Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Lahore witnessed an extraordinary kite boom during the three-day Basant festival, with sales surpassing Rs 54 crore, according to the local Kite Association.
On Tuesday alone, more than 500,000 kites were sold in markets across the city. Skilled artisans from Peshawar, especially from the historic Yakatoot Bazaar, have been working tirelessly, producing high-quality, colorful, and affordable kites and strings for distribution in Lahore and other major cities.
Market vendors noted that numerous workshops in Peshawar are operating round-the-clock to meet the skyrocketing demand. This surge reflects both the cultural significance of Basant and the thriving kite industry in Pakistan, which combines traditional craftsmanship with modern demand.
