An Associated Press report has revealed that four US soldiers killed during recent fighting with Iran no longer appear on the Pentagon’s official war casualty list.
Washington, United States – Web Desk: The Associated Press has reported that the names of four US soldiers killed during recent fighting between the United States and Iran no longer appear on the Pentagon’s official war casualty list.
According to the report, the Defense Casualty Analysis System, maintained by the US Department of Defense and regarded as the authoritative source for official data on military personnel killed and wounded in combat, removed the four soldiers along with dozens of wounded personnel from the war casualty and injury list last week.
The Associated Press said a new category titled “Overseas Operations” was subsequently added to the same system, under which the names of the four soldiers were recorded. The same new list also includes references to 207 wounded personnel.
The report noted that it remains unclear whether all 207 wounded personnel were injured specifically during recent military operations related to Iran, or whether the figure also includes casualties from other overseas military operations.
The Associated Press said the Pentagon has not offered a detailed explanation for the change, raising questions over why official war casualty and injury data was shifted into the new classification.
Analysts say such changes to the official categorization of US military losses could spark significant debate around transparency and public trust, particularly at a time when global attention remains focused on US military activity in the Middle East.
The US Department of Defense has not yet issued further official details on the matter. This report is based on findings attributed to the Associated Press and has not been independently verified beyond what has been officially disclosed.
