Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk:At least 118 deaths were reported over the past year in areas served by electricity distribution companies across Pakistan, according to the latest annual report by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
The report for fiscal year 2024–25 stated that the highest number of fatalities — 24 — occurred in areas managed by K-Electric. Meanwhile, 22 deaths were recorded in regions under the jurisdiction of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).
The lowest number of fatalities, two, was reported in areas served by Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO).
The report did not specify the individual causes of the incidents but highlighted ongoing safety challenges within Pakistan’s power distribution network. Power safety, infrastructure maintenance, and regulatory oversight remain key concerns as authorities face pressure to reduce electricity-related accidents nationwide.
NEPRA’s annual findings are closely watched as part of broader reforms in Pakistan’s energy sector.
