ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in the upper regions of Pakistan starting November 4. A westerly wave is expected to hit the northern and central parts from the night of November 3, continuing until November 5, bringing a significant drop in temperatures.
Mountainous areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, and districts in Kashmir such as Neelum Valley and Muzaffarabad are expected to experience snowfall along with rain and windstorms. Gilgit-Baltistan regions like Skardu, Hunza, and Gilgit will also witness similar weather.
Isolated hailstorms and windstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, and surrounding areas. The temperatures during the day are likely to fall sharply, with further decreases expected at night.
Fog and smog in parts of Punjab may temporarily clear during rainfall but could return later. Authorities have urged farmers to plan their fieldwork accordingly and advised travelers and tourists to exercise caution, especially in hilly areas, due to potential slippery conditions and weather hazards.
The PMD warned that windstorms and hail may damage loose structures in exposed locations, emphasizing preparedness during this spell.
