CNN reports TTP and BLA using modern American rifles and sniper guns in Pakistan attacks
Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Modern U.S.-made weapons abandoned in Afghanistan after American troop withdrawal are now being used by terrorists in Pakistan, posing a serious security threat to the region, according to a CNN report.
The report highlights that banned groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) are employing advanced American rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, and night-vision devices in their attacks. Weapons such as M-4s, M-16s, M-249 machine guns, and Remington sniper rifles have been recovered by Pakistani security forces.
John Sopko, former head of the U.S. SIGAR agency, said around 300,000 modern U.S. weapons were left in Afghanistan during the American exit. CNN noted that terrorists’ access to these arms has increased both the intensity and sophistication of attacks, particularly in South Waziristan and Balochistan. Experts warn the availability of advanced U.S. weapons is a major obstacle to counter-terrorism efforts, escalating security concerns along Pakistan’s border areas.
