Washington, USA – Web Desk: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that Washington could expand strikes on Iran’s infrastructure if Tehran does not pursue a diplomatic path, amid escalating tensions between the two countries.
Speaking at a press conference, Hegseth said the U.S. military is prepared for a range of options, including potential ground operations if deemed necessary. He emphasized that ongoing U.S. actions include operations within Iranian airspace, adding that Washington retains significant military capabilities compared to Tehran.
“Iran should choose diplomacy,” he said, warning that failure to do so could result in a broader scope of attacks targeting infrastructure.
The defense secretary also described the coming days as “decisive” for the conflict, noting that Iran had launched a relatively limited number of missiles in the past 24 hours.
Analysts say the remarks highlight a critical phase in the confrontation, raising concerns over further escalation and the risk of a wider regional conflict in the Middle East.
