US Vows to Reopen Strait of Hormuz, Rubio Warns Iran

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened after the conclusion of ongoing military operations, with or without Iran’s consent, warning Tehran of serious consequences if it attempts to block the vital shipping route.

Rubio stated that Donald Trump continues to prioritize diplomacy in the conflict with Iran, adding that indirect negotiations between the two sides are ongoing through intermediaries.

Rubio said the United States prefers to achieve outcomes through diplomatic channels, noting that the situation could have been resolved earlier. However, he emphasized that ensuring the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains a strategic priority for Washington and its allies.

He warned that any attempt by Iran to keep the waterway closed after military operations would trigger a firm response, potentially involving a broader international coalition.

The U.S. official also accused Iran of directing resources toward groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and Shia militias in Iraq, while threatening neighboring countries. He reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons and must halt activities that destabilize the region.

Rubio further claimed that Iran’s short-range missile capabilities are aimed at regional countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

He added that Washington’s objectives in the region are clear and could be achieved within weeks rather than months, underscoring growing urgency amid escalating Middle East tensions.
