Beijing, China – Web Desk: Two container vessels operated by COSCO Shipping have successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz, according to ship-tracking data, marking a significant development amid ongoing regional tensions.
The vessels have now passed through the strategic waterway and are en route to Malaysia, data shows. The same ships had earlier turned back while approaching the Strait on Friday, with no official explanation provided at the time.
Maritime tracking services indicate that this is the first instance since the start of the Iran-related conflict that large container ships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global trade and oil shipments.
The development may signal a shift in commercial shipping activity and improving confidence in maritime security conditions in the region, although risks remain elevated.
