Washington, United States – Web Desk: The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against the University of California, alleging the university failed to prevent anti-Semitic activities on its Los Angeles campus. Officials claim the administration did not act effectively to ensure a safe environment for Jewish students, which could constitute a violation of federal law.
The university has not issued an immediate official response to the lawsuit. Previously, in November, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from imposing a potential fine exceeding $1 billion on the university. The fine had been proposed for the university’s alleged failure to prevent anti-Jewish activities on campus.
In August, following pro-Palestinian demonstrations, the U.S. government also suspended nearly $584 million in federal funding for the university. The DOJ’s current action underscores ongoing federal scrutiny over campus safety, discrimination, and the protection of minority students.
