Washington, United States – Web Desk: Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz escalated once again after the United States claimed it carried out fresh strikes on Iranian military targets near the strategic waterway, while also intercepting multiple drones allegedly launched toward a US-linked commercial vessel.
According to US officials, American forces targeted a military installation in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas, describing the site as a potential threat to US troops and commercial shipping operating in the Strait of Hormuz. The US military also claimed it shot down several Iranian drones during the latest confrontation.
American authorities further alleged that four drones were launched toward a US commercial vessel, but said all were intercepted and destroyed before reaching their target.
Meanwhile, Iranian forces claimed they prevented a US oil tanker from crossing through the Strait of Hormuz and forced it to turn back. Tehran has not officially confirmed the broader US allegations regarding the reported strikes.
In a related development, Washington announced sanctions against an entity linked to the management of the Strait of Hormuz, saying the move was part of broader efforts to counter Iran’s influence and strengthen oversight in the region.
The latest developments come amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with global energy markets closely monitoring security conditions around one of the world’s most critical oil and gas shipping routes.
