US-Iran Talks in Islamabad: First Round Concludes

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The first round of high-level negotiations between the United States and Iran, facilitated by Pakistan, has concluded in Islamabad, according to Iranian state media.

The talks ended at 3:12 a.m. local time on Sunday, marking a significant phase in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between the two countries.

Sources said the latest round included direct, face-to-face meetings between the delegations, followed by an exchange of written draft proposals by technical teams. The development signals that both sides are taking practical steps toward a potential agreement, although further consultations are still required.

Iranian officials emphasized that the negotiation process remains ongoing, with additional discussions scheduled for today. This indicates that key issues are yet to be resolved, but progress is expected.

The US delegation is being led by Vice President J.D. Vance, and includes senior figures such as Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. The Iranian delegation is headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, alongside Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and other senior officials.

The Islamabad talks are being closely watched as part of broader efforts to revive diplomatic engagement and reduce regional tensions.
