Washington, United States – Web Desk: US authorities have detained relatives of slain Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani, including his niece Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter, over alleged support for anti-US activities.
According to the U.S. Department of State, their legal permanent residency status (green cards) was revoked following a decision supported by US Senator Marco Rubio.
Officials confirmed that both individuals are currently in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Authorities allege that Hamideh Soleimani Afshar publicly supported attacks on US troops in Iran, praised Iran’s leadership, and made statements critical of the United States.
The State Department further stated that she had expressed support for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps through social media platforms, including Instagram.
Senator Rubio said in a social media post that both individuals are expected to be deported soon, adding that the US government would not allow foreign nationals who support hostile or extremist activities to remain in the country.
Authorities also confirmed that a travel ban has been imposed on her husband, preventing him from entering the United States.
In a related development, similar restrictions were previously imposed on the daughter of Iranian official Ali Larijani and her spouse, both of whom have since left the United States and are subject to permanent entry bans.
The case comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with increased scrutiny on individuals linked to Iran’s political and military establishment.
