US Blacklists Hezbollah Network, Freezes Assets in Major Move

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: The United States has announced a new wave of sanctions targeting individuals and entities linked to Lebanon’s Hezbollah network, in what officials describe as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the group’s financial infrastructure.

According to the US Department of the Treasury, the sanctions target persons and companies allegedly involved in facilitating financial transfers and providing funding support to Hezbollah.

The statement said that weakening Hezbollah’s operational capacity and pushing for its disarmament remains essential for regional peace and stability.

Among those designated is Mahmoud Qamati, deputy head of Hezbollah’s political council, who is accused of involvement in transferring funds from Iran to Hezbollah-linked channels.

The US Treasury also included Suleiman Frangieh, leader of Lebanon’s Marada Movement, citing alleged political alignment and support for Hezbollah’s broader political alliance.

Officials confirmed that all assets belonging to the designated individuals and entities within US jurisdiction will be frozen immediately. The sanctions also prohibit US persons and companies from engaging in transactions with those listed.

The Treasury warned that foreign and domestic institutions violating the restrictions could face further legal and financial penalties.

The move marks another escalation in Washington’s pressure campaign against Hezbollah’s financial and political networks amid ongoing regional tensions in the Middle East.
