Canada Crushes Qatar 6–0 in Historic World Cup Win

Date:

Vancouver, Canada – Web Desk: Canada delivered a historic performance in the FIFA World Cup, securing their first-ever victory in the tournament with a dominant 6–0 win over Qatar in Vancouver.

The match began with high intensity as Canada immediately took control. Cyle Larin opened the scoring in the 16th minute, followed by Jonathan David doubling the lead in the 29th minute.

Qatar’s challenge suffered a major setback in the 33rd minute when Homam Al-Amin was shown a red card for a foul, leaving his side reduced to 10 men.

Just before halftime, Jonathan David struck again in added time to complete his brace and extend Canada’s lead to 3–0.

The second half saw a serious injury incident involving Canada’s Ismaël Koné after a heavy collision with Qatar’s Assim Omar Madibo while contesting the ball. Koné required lengthy medical attention and was stretchered off the field, with fans and players visibly shaken by the incident.

Following a VAR review, Madibo’s initial yellow card was upgraded to a red, reducing Qatar further to nine players.

Canada capitalised on its numerical advantage, with Nathan Saliba scoring a stunning free-kick in the 63rd minute. During his celebration, he held up Koné’s jersey in a show of support for his injured teammate.

In stoppage time, Jonathan David completed his hat-trick, sealing a commanding 6–0 victory. Qatar also suffered an own goal from Mohamed Al-Mannai during the second half.

The emphatic win places Canada at the top of Group B and moves them closer to the knockout stage. However, concerns over Koné’s injury have cast a shadow over the victory and could impact Canada’s upcoming fixtures.
