Geneva, Switzerland – Web Desk: The United Nations Human Rights Council has passed a major resolution condemning Iran’s missile and drone strikes, with support from more than 100 countries, marking a significant escalation in international diplomatic pressure on Iran.
The resolution was adopted following an emergency session convened at the request of Gulf nations and Jordan. It strongly denounces Iran’s attacks, describing them as violations of international law and a threat to regional stability.
In a statement issued during the session, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates condemned Iran’s targeting of civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports, and energy facilities. Officials termed such actions “unacceptable,” particularly in countries not directly involved in the conflict.
The resolution also highlighted disruptions in key maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb, warning that interference in these critical passages poses a serious threat to global peace, trade, and energy security.
It further stressed that ongoing tensions are already impacting global supply chains and international commerce, amplifying economic uncertainty worldwide.
The council reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of affected nations. It called on Iran to immediately halt hostilities, avoid further escalation, and provide full compensation to impacted countries.
Political analysts say the broad backing of the resolution reflects mounting global consensus and increasing diplomatic isolation of Iran amid the ongoing Middle East crisis.
