Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Web Desk: A senior adviser to the President of the United Arab Emirates has said that Iran’s nuclear program has become the country’s primary security concern, highlighting growing regional tensions over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
Speaking to international media, UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash said that any renewed US-Iran conflict would further complicate an already fragile regional situation.
He warned that any changes affecting the Strait of Hormuz would have serious consequences not only for the Middle East but also for Europe, urging European countries to view the waterway as a critical energy and trade corridor.
Gargash emphasized that diplomatic engagement remains essential, but cautioned that any political settlement should not come at the cost of creating further instability in the region.
He noted that Iran’s nuclear program, once considered a secondary concern, has now become the UAE’s “number one concern,” adding that Tehran has the capability to use a wide range of tools in regional conflicts.
The adviser also said that relations with the United States remain the backbone of Gulf security systems, describing Washington as increasingly central to the strategic calculations of Gulf states.
Separately, he mentioned that the UAE has been considering its position on OPEC participation for the past three years, reflecting broader energy policy discussions within the country.
