Date:

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Web Desk: The United Arab Emirates has officially launched its first passenger train service, marking a major milestone in the country’s transport infrastructure as emirates are now being connected through a modern rail network.

The inauguration of the Muhammad Bin Zayed City Passenger Railway Station was held by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to officials, passenger train services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah will be available from June 30, with a travel time of just one hour and 45 minutes. Ticket prices will start from 55 dirhams, while premium class fares are set at 120 dirhams.

Under the national railway expansion plan, stations in Dubai and Sharjah’s Al Dhaid area are expected to open by September 30, 2026. Rail services in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region are scheduled to begin in December 2026, while Sharjah’s central railway station will become part of the national network in March 2027.

Officials say the new rail system will play a key role in enhancing connectivity, boosting trade, and supporting tourism across the UAE.
