Iran’s Chief Negotiator Baqer Qalibaf Reveals Inside Details of US Talks

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has revealed internal details of the recent Iran-US talks, explaining why the Iranian delegation walked away from negotiations in Switzerland.

According to Iranian media, Qalibaf said the talks were halted after what Tehran described as “threatening statements” from the US leadership. He claimed that remarks directed at Iran’s president, negotiating team, and potential military action against Iranian territory led to a breakdown in dialogue.

Qalibaf stated that the Iranian side informed US Vice President JD Vance that negotiations must remain free from threats or pressure, in line with the agreed framework. He added that Iran does not engage in talks under intimidation and immediately left the negotiating table following the statements.

He further said the United States later requested another meeting through mediators, but Iran rejected the proposal. According to him, Qatari and Pakistani intermediaries held separate engagements with the Iranian delegation, after which Iran agreed only to indirect communication through mediators rather than direct talks with US officials.

He noted that a brief 80-minute exchange and consultations took place, the outcome of which was later shared jointly by Pakistan and Qatar.
