U.S. Army Chief of Staff General Randy George Removed Amid Shakeup

Date:

Washington, USA – Web Desk: The U.S. military experienced a major leadership shakeup as Defense Secretary Pat Hagerty ordered Army Chief of Staff General Randy George to step down and take immediate retirement.

The move has sent ripples through the Pentagon, signaling a significant change in military leadership aligned with President Donald Trump’s defense policy vision. Current Vice Chief of Staff General Christopher Lanius has been named interim Army Chief. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell described him as a highly experienced and trusted leader capable of implementing the administration’s strategic objectives.

General George, a career infantry officer and graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, has served in the First Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He was appointed Army Chief of Staff in 2023 by former President Joe Biden, with a term expected to continue until 2027.

Officials emphasized that the decision was part of a broader leadership restructuring and not related to any recent helicopter incident. Hagerty has already removed several senior officers, including Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman CQ Brown and Navy Operations head Lisa Franchetti, as part of a larger plan to reshape U.S. military command.

This change comes amid ongoing strategic realignments within the Pentagon, aiming to ensure that senior leadership fully executes the administration’s defense priorities.
