Ankara, Türkiye – Web Desk: Türkiye has proposed that Israel could become part of a broader regional cooperation framework if it recognizes an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
In a recent interview, Fidan said that a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue remains essential for achieving sustainable peace and stability in the Middle East. He argued that resolving the conflict could open the door to greater regional cooperation and improved security arrangements involving Israel and neighboring countries.
The Turkish foreign minister suggested that a future regional platform could include Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Gulf states, creating a framework for dialogue, security cooperation, and economic engagement.
Fidan also stated that Iran could potentially join such a regional arrangement if conditions stabilize and regional tensions ease.
According to the Turkish minister, all countries in the region should commit to respecting each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security interests in order to build a durable and peaceful regional order.
The comments come amid renewed international discussions over Middle East diplomacy and efforts to expand regional normalization initiatives. US President Donald Trump has recently voiced support for broadening the scope of the Abraham Accords as part of wider efforts to improve relations across the region.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains a major concern, with ongoing conflict continuing to affect civilians and regional stability.
