LONDON – Web Desk: A British report has revealed that US President Donald Trump’s threats to “end Iranian civilization” not only heightened fears of a potential nuclear conflict in the Middle East but also across Europe and Asia.
According to the report, at the height of US-Iran tensions, Western diplomatic circles feared that if the conflict escalated into full-scale war, its effects could spread globally — including an energy crisis, intervention by military alliances, and even the possibility of nuclear confrontation. The British analytical report stated that Iran’s nuclear program, Israel’s security concerns, and America’s hardline policies had made the situation extremely sensitive. Some European officials had expressed concern that a miscalculation or military provocation could plunge the region into a major crisis.
The report also noted that Asian countries, particularly Japan, China, and South Korea, were deeply anxious over potential disruptions to energy supplies from the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East. However, US officials rejected this perception, stating that Washington’s aim was to increase pressure on Iran, not to move toward full-scale war or nuclear confrontation.
