Washington, USA – Web Desk:
US President Donald Trump has announced that countries attempting to exploit a recent US Supreme Court ruling could face higher tariffs.
Trump stated that nations seeking to benefit from what he called the court’s “ridiculous decision” will encounter tougher measures. The Supreme Court last week ruled that the tariffs imposed by Trump on foreign countries were illegal, stating that the law used to justify the tariffs, designed for national emergencies, did not grant the president authority to impose additional tariffs without congressional approval.
Trump, however, has previously insisted that as president, he does not need Congress’s approval to implement tariffs. The new statement signals a potential escalation in trade tensions with countries affected by the Supreme Court’s decision.
