Trump Unhappy With Iran Proposals as Tehran Consults Supreme Leader

Date:

Washington, DC – Web Desk: Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high as President Donald Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Tehran’s latest proposals, while Iranian officials have decided to consult the country’s Supreme Leader on revised terms, sources said Wednesday.

The White House confirmed that Trump and his national security team reviewed a new proposal from Iran aimed at ending hostilities and reducing regional tensions. According to media reports, the Iranian offer includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, provided that the war ends. However, negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program would be deferred to a later stage. Full details of the proposal have not been disclosed by either side.

Trump said on social media that Iran has informed the United States that it is under severe pressure and wants to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible. The president indicated he is not fully satisfied with the offer.

Separately, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described Iran’s proposal as better than previous ones but made clear that any final agreement must ensure Iran cannot acquire nuclear weapons. Iran has repeatedly denied having any ambition to build nuclear arms.

According to reports, Iran has requested several days to consult its Supreme Leader on the revised proposals. An American newspaper quoted intermediaries as saying that Tehran needs time to seek the leader’s guidance before moving forward.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump has instructed his advisors to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iranian ports to increase economic pressure on Tehran, aiming to force it to halt uranium enrichment.

Iran’s military has stated that the country remains in a state of war readiness and will respond forcefully to any new aggression by the enemy. Analysts say the negotiation process has entered a complex phase, and reaching a final agreement could take considerable time.

No direct talks between US and Iranian officials have been confirmed. Regional powers continue to mediate behind the scenes.
