“You Never Smile,” Trump Tells Journalist as Oval Office Exchange Escalates
Washington, United States | Web Desk: A heated exchange between US President Donald Trump and a CNN reporter has gone viral after the journalist questioned him about the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal during an Oval Office event.
According to US media reports, CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins asked President Trump about the release of Epstein-related documents and justice for victims. She pointed out that the files reportedly include names linked to Trump’s close circles and should not be framed solely against Democrats.
President Trump dismissed the question, saying he had not read the emails and claimed that if there were anything substantial, it would have made major headlines. When Collins raised concerns about victims being unhappy over redacted identities in the documents, Trump attempted to end the discussion, stating the country should “move on,” especially since “nothing came out” against him.
The exchange intensified when Trump criticized Collins personally, calling her “the worst reporter,” accusing her of dishonesty, and remarking, “I’ve never seen you smile.” Despite Collins clarifying that she was asking on behalf of Epstein’s victims, Trump turned away and allowed another reporter to take the floor.
The White House later shared the video on social media, claiming the president had given a “strong response” to the reporter. Trump has previously acknowledged social interactions with Epstein, who was arrested on sex trafficking charges and found dead in jail in 2019.
Trump’s confrontations with journalists have been a recurring theme throughout his presidencies, drawing both support from followers and criticism from press freedom advocates.
